The Twelve Powers find their origin in the Jewish teaching of the 12 sons of Jacob and the 12 tribes of Israel, and in the Christian teaching of the 12 disciples of Jesus. Charles Fillmore further developed a metaphysical understanding of these as Divine faculties, abilities and powers in his book: The Twelve Powers of Man. In our consideration of the Twelve Powers we often neglect the opportunity to see and understand these first as faculties, then experienced and expressed as abilities and powers. As children of God, created in the image and likeness of the Divine, we are endowed with these twelve facilities from which we have the ability and power to experience our Christ potential and express our Christ purpose, our Christ-ness. I find great assurance, aspiration and inspiration in the knowing of these as Divine faculties of the individual soul, the Sacred-self of the Christ potential and purpose, in one and all. Merriam-Webster describes as faculty (noun) as an innate, inherent ability and power, an further as a: capacity, potential, capability, talent, skill and mastery. I see each of the Twelve Powers as Divine Ideas, perfect and complete as Divine Principles in Divine Mind. These powers come to us in their Divine perfection inviting us to connect, communicate and collaborate with them in their Divine Purpose to fulfil their Divine Potential in us and through us. In Christ we have all the Faith, Strength, Wisdom, Love, Power, Imagination, Understanding, Will, Order, Zeal, Elimination and Power we need, for all the realization, demonstration and manifestation of the Divine Good prepared for us. The Twelve Powers are personified in us and through us. Our experience and expression of these Divine Principles are as unique us and we are to each other. For this reason we do not judge each others experience and expression of the Divine. Your experience and expression of the Twelve Powers are personified as you; never before and never again will each of these faculties, abilities and powers find the same experience and expression, as they do now, in you, and as you.
